58 - Critically Important But Largely Unreported Aspects Of The Iraq War, Part I: The Right-Wing "Project For A New American Century" (PNAC)

Today we're going to present Part I of what will be at least a 3-part series, Critically Important But Largely Unreported Aspects of the Iraq War. The first subject we'll address is, the neocon organization called Project for a New American Century, known as PNAC. This will make your hair stand on end.

A major issue in the midterm elections, just about 2 months away, will of course be Iraq.

One of the progressive understandings that often gets short shrift in the media, is that the Iraq War is not a noble effort based on unfortunately faulty intelligence, or a good mission poorly executed.

No, progressives understand that the Iraq War was something lusted after for years before 9/11 by the neocons, and in order to lay the appropriate level of blame and, yes, criminal responsibility where it belongs, this needs to be understood.

In short: these brazen PNAC neocons announced their goal to maintain US global domination, lobbied for that goal years before 9/11, and then when they took power in Washington, actually implemented the invasion and occupation of Iraq as the first step towards achieving that goal.

But whenever the charge is leveled that the Iraq War was one planned long before 9/11 and that 9/11 just served as an excuse, right-wingers always claim there is no evidence of that.

Wrong. There's dispositive evidence. PNAC provides the foundation to prove that 9/11 was consciously used by the Bush administration as an excuse to invade Iraq -- Iraq was not a misguided or misdirected result of 9/11.

With the Fall elections in mind, one of the linchpins of proving that Bush hyped and even lied about the intelligence, is to provide this motive: that he was just looking for an excuse to execute a decision made long before -- to go to war against Iraq, to invade and occupy that nation.

The words and actions of the group PNAC could well push fence-sitting centrists over the line, into full appreciation of the real reasons behind the Iraq War.

Over heard the other day, at the neighbouring table, at a cafeteria seating a few angry senior citizens:-
A. No its not nonsense. And yes! Its hard to believe. But it seems very likely because of the way it happened.
B. Are you serious? You're not suggesting that there was complicity between those 19 bastards, and the powers that be in our country!
A. Well that's what some people suspect, very strongly too. Intelligence had passed detailed information about those bastards and the sort of stuff they were planning,long in advance. The implication seems to be that total and abject failure to act to intercept that operation, prior to 9/11, amounts to complicity.
C. I'm with A. Allowing it to occur can not be passed off as the result of negligence. Failures all round, in every way, are far too suspicious. Wait till the democrats order a fresh Commission on this. I have no faith in this Warren Commission or whoever it was.
B. You guys are nuts dammn-it. You don't really believe what you're implying do you?
A. Well! That's what's going round. There are serious suspicions about knowingly allowing this huge tragedy to befall us, so that, in the heat of the moment, their long planned totally crazy idea to attack Iraq could be given effect.

Serious misgivings, doubts, suspicions, coming to the fore-front now, as a result of repeated disastrous sub-sequent policy- driven actions of "the powers that be".

The salivating neofascist right is full of deranged psychopaths. Rush Limbaugh likes to pound his lurid crotch monkey by his front window, as he drools, saying, somebody watch me PLEASE! Then, Bill O'Reilly likes to dig in his crack piles for gut oil to slosh around on his dragging knuckles!~ Sean Hannity is a lurid queer in secret. He did a threesome with top GOP senators at his private retreat. Yes, the bonafides of depravity, the right wing neofascists of the modern era in America. Watch 'em slobber and drool as they drag their wicked knuckles!

UNFORTUNATELY...some of the comments I see here and the tone of them is EXACTLY the fuel that the RIGHT uses to tell those who do have it figured out somewhat that they are crazy.

PNAC IS the real danger and they are lock stock and barrel in control of the Government at the moment. Cheney is the leader of the pack. Bush is simply the "boy figurehead" that takes direction

So all these calls to "IMPEACH BUSH" are nonsense. If you file a bill of impeachment against BUSH and with a change in the make-up of the Congress which is highly expected, succeed if expelling him from office in shame, what do you have left.

Well you have CHENEY the head of PNAC, the real power behind the throne and the result is you have NO CHANGE AT ALL.

Don't think for a second Pnac and Cheney don't already know that Bush is an expendable figurehead.

and if you look at the PNAC membership list what you will find is Dan Quayle, who when you look at the list he is clearly not in this group in any form or fashion.

IMO had Bush not come along by design, Quayle was "in the wings" all orchestrated by PNAC.

Isn't the the very corpus of crime that it is carried out in secret?

If PNAC was a secret society with cloudy creed and membership unknown we might be more suspicious of them, like the 'Illumiati' of previous decades. But these guys have hit on a strategy so audacious as to seem comically inept: Go public.

Crazy like a fox, I say. They have decided that they are so far above the law that they cannot be tried; that they can refashion the law to suit their own agenda in the name of (insert patriotic/liberal theme here) and then do whatever they please. No wonder they call themselves "NEO-liberals", they are authoring a version of liberalism heretofore unknown. Confident that they are untouchable, they are completely unfetterd of the common decency (internal) and social constraint (external) which usually rein in unbridled greed.

This is the most frightening fact about them: not that they exist, but that they exist PUBLICLY!

Like pathological liars who consistently pass lie detector tests, they actually BELIEVE their own story... and so, unfortunately are extremely convincing. They are doing their business in plain sight for all to see. And to the untrained eye they likely appear righteous.

Some of us do know about PNAC, but only a handful of bright Americans are willing to acklowedge it. Beside 9/11 being a blank check for this silly little cowpoke kid out of crawford texax,, it is proving that most americans would be rather comfortable with a dictatorship> The suspension of habius corpus by the current president, warrantless wiretapping, them spying on your emails and telephone calls. But when you ask most americans how they feel about this they say it doesnt bother them....just like the same corruption didnt bother the Germains back in the 30's when hitler was coming into power and convincing the germain people that jews were terrorists. its no different here.
Forget about this vision of the great american being this ''rugged individualist''and ''great patriot''....because after 9/11..it showed clearly that most americans are a bunch of jellyfish frightened people with no backbone and quite willing to give up civil liberties. 9/11 carefully demonstrated that most americans dont deserve america. WHY??>> ''we need to tap your phones''....''sure,,go right ahead''.....''we want to tap your emails''....''sure. no problem''..''we are going to suspend habius corpus''....sure..i dont care''.
I am not here to argue who was really behind 9/11 or who the 19 bastards REALLY were,, but rather..what we face now. The fashists have us right where they want us. It is much harder now for college students to get up and protest the war compared to the 70's where students had a lot more time on their hands than now. They keep tuitions high in college to keep the students so pre-occupied and worried that they may fail,,, that students and others do not see time for such protests. And the sad reality of that is no different in most americans.

To sum this all up..sure..this administration planned iraq long before 9/11. Are you kidding? In the meantime... the president of usbekistan who boils his enemies,, the president of iran who wants to 'blow isreal off the map',,north korea gearing up icbm's and bigger problems in darfur region. And here at home,,christian right-wing evangelecal homophobes who hate jews,hate gays,hate women and hate blacks are deep in the pockets of the dictator in the white house. REALLY??? you bet!!.......dont let his blue tie fool and droopy smirk you

Jack Clark documents the right's wars on the poor, civil liberties, the right of workers to organize at work and obtain a decent working wage and work conditions, and against other countries who refuse to accept American domination. Clark always backs up his statements against the right wing with fact and data, which gives him all the more credibility. As conglomerate media controlled by politics clouds the mainstream news media, Jack Clark, along with NPR and Democracy Now! have become my primary news source. Awesome podcast!

In-Depth, Meaty, Hardcore Knowledge
This podcast is not just entertainment, humor, chimp-bashing, or gee-whiz recap of the weeks events. Instead, it hits hard and in-depth on the world economic situation and how right-wing policies impact the poor and less advantaged all over the world. He examines Americas support of the World Bank, IMF,multinational corporations, etc., and connects the dots. This is a podcast for grown-ups. He gives good reasons why the right wing is NOT living up to its precious Bible, without putting down the Bible. As a Jesus-loving Christian and moderate Democrat, I respect this podcast for its subject matter. The grown-up manner of the speaker is just icing on the cake. He IS funny, but hes not trying to be, he just has a deadpan delivery but doesnt have to make jokes to make it interesting. The facts make it interesting and devastating.

Jack Clarks Blast the Right podcast is truly a breath of fresh air when it comes to political commentary. Jack is not like some commentators who simply climb on their soap box and state their own opinions as fact. Instead, Jack welcomes competent challenges to his way of thinking, and with logical analysis and sound research, debunks the lies, distortions, and self-deceptions of the right wing. I strongly recommend Blast the Right for people who seek the truth and care more about the long term health and well-being of the whole citizenry than the short term personal gain advocated by modern conservatives. Listen as Jack carefully shows how the high-sounding "God and country" rhetoric of the right wing is really just a smokescreen for policies that ultimately lead only to the increased misery, suffering, and death of the less fortunate for the particular benefit of the wealthy and the well-connected.
