52 - Right-Wing Wages War On State Environmental And Health Safeguards

Right-wingers are traditionally strong proponents of the states rights doctrine, which holds that the federal government should play a limited role and defer to the states whenever it can.

Right-wingers, however, have no principles, and when it suits their needs, they will readily abandon such supposedly sacred ideological tenets as states rights. And that's just what they have been doing.

Ever since January, 2001, right-wingers have jettisoned the state's rights doctrine when it suits their needs -- as you might expect, for nefarious purposes, to guarantee higher industry profits at the expense of increased human misery, suffering pain and death.

How? Right-wingers in Congress have conducted a massive assault on the right of the states to pass legislation to protect their citizens in the environmental and public health arenas.

The states would want to pass their own legislation when they feel that federal statutes do not adequately protect their citizens, which of course they won't, when right-wingers are writing those statutes.

So the GOP-controlled Congress has been trying to prevent the 50 states from passing any such legislation that goes beyond federal standards. This right-wing campaign is happening largely under the radar, even though the effect of this campaign could be deadly for countless Americans.

Listen to the podcast for all the details.

Great podcast yet again Jack. Once more the repukes show us they dnt give a rats hind end about the future. Why is it they only concern themselves with making money. Sometimes I wish God would expose these "people" for what they really are.

I just stumbled on this via a search from Wizz RSS.

Interesting topic, but I had a hard time listening as it sounds like you're reading from a script, and the dialogue moved a little slow (again, like reading from a script).

The scope of this topic is a little larger than what you make it out to seem though. "A" for effort, and I'll bookmark for future podcasts. Thanks!

funny how 30 second talking points are enough to convince 50 million morons to poison their environment to put money in somebody else's pocket but 30 minutes of facts based on good research is too limited in scope for people like David.

LIBERALS RUN OUR COUNTRY???!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!

My word mr. anonymous do you READ what you post..... Let's do a quick check.. right wingers (some so far right that even the "traditional" right wingers disavow them) run the executive branch , both houses of congress and now have a majority on the supreme(extreme) court. So it seems on the FACE of it your statemnet is FALSE!

And besides WHY oh WHY should I move to Canada when my very presence in the USA seems to annoy you so very much ;)

Progressives ARE for life... regressives support war, poverty and death by YOUR policies.

Why are you insulting someone who says they are interested in your ideas? Myself, as someone who is trying to become interested by new ideas, is disappointed to see you attack someone for constructive criticism.

L. Micvhael Labovitch:
I READ (in all caps, apparently) Mr. Anonymous's post and apparently, you have some problems with reading comprehension. Ruining is spelled as such. Running is a completly different word and was not used by said poster.

Great podcast - a must listen to
Jack Clark documents the right's wars on the poor, civil liberties, the right of workers to organize at work and obtain a decent working wage and work conditions, and against other countries who refuse to accept American domination. Jack provides all the sources so that you can see for yourself how the right is out to enrich itself at the expense of everyone else. Great job, Jack!

awesome show
Clark always backs up his statements against the right wing with fact and data, which gives him all the more credibility. As conglomerate media controlled by politics clouds the mainstream news media, Jack Clark, along with NPR and Democracy Now! have become my primary news source. Awesome podcast!

In-Depth, Meaty, Hardcore Knowledge
This podcast is not just entertainment, humor, chimp-bashing, or gee-whiz recap of the weeks events. Instead, it hits hard and in-depth on the world economic situation and how right-wing policies impact the poor and less advantaged all over the world. He examines Americas support of the World Bank, IMF,multinational corporations, etc., and connects the dots. This is a podcast for grown-ups. He gives good reasons why the right wing is NOT living up to its precious Bible, without putting down the Bible. As a Jesus-loving Christian and moderate Democrat, I respect this podcast for its subject matter. The grown-up manner of the speaker is just icing on the cake. He IS funny, but hes not trying to be, he just has a deadpan delivery but doesnt have to make jokes to make it interesting. The facts make it interesting and devastating.

A Breath of Fresh Air
Jack Clarks Blast the Right podcast is truly a breath of fresh air when it comes to political commentary. Jack is not like some commentators who simply climb on their soap box and state their own opinions as fact. Instead, Jack welcomes competent challenges to his way of thinking, and with logical analysis and sound research, debunks the lies, distortions, and self-deceptions of the right wing. I strongly recommend Blast the Right for people who seek the truth and care more about the long term health and well-being of the whole citizenry than the short term personal gain advocated by modern conservatives. Listen as Jack carefully shows how the high-sounding "God and country" rhetoric of the right wing is really just a smokescreen for policies that ultimately lead only to the increased misery, suffering, and death of the less fortunate for the particular benefit of the wealthy and the well-connected. And, if you find yourself in agreement, return to Podcast Alley to place your vote! Thanks!
