26 - 9/11 Workers Poisoned by Bush EPA Lies / Bush's Texas Statute Allows Hospital to Shut Life Support Ventilator of Patient Who Wants It Kept On!

Today I present two additional installments of my continuing series "The 4,978 Ways Right-Wingers Kill" -- kill the innocent, kill the defenseless.

First: George Bush's EPA lied to 9/11 emergency responders and other workers about the environmental poisons they were being exposed to. Sadly, a 9/11 worker just died from such poisoning. Indications are, there will be many more.

Second: When George Bush was governor of Texas, he signed a statute which allows the life support of a patient to be shut off, even if the patient wants it to be kept on! Those without health insurance are particularly vulnerable. So a Texas woman just had her life support ventilator shut off, despite her objections and the protests of her family. This story will make your hair stand on end.

It's a good job. I like your thoughts. Here is another thing, talking about 9/11. It's a book, "After 9/11: A Korean Girl's Sexual Journey." I strongly believe that you will have something to say about it.

Most amazing thing is chapter 43, "9/11s are forgiveness," which makes "9/11" a general noun for the worst disaster that could happen in one's life. I have never seen any writer put it this way.

Jack, I remember when this incident occured involving Tirhas Habtegiris. I live in the Dallas area, and this fits a general pattern of operation for Baylor. My wife worked as a nurse for Baylor. She was injured on the job, and filed a workers compensation claim. From the day she filed her claim, she was harrassed by Baylor, they made it as difficult as they could for her to get her treatment and medicine. When the doctor finally released my wife to go back to work on light duty, Baylor fired her. Not only did they fire her, they black balled her. My wife can't get a job in her field anymore because of what Baylor has done to her. I guess it is not so ironic that Baylor is affilliated with the Southern Baptist church.
Since we live in the Collin County part of the city of Dallas, she can't get any kind of health care assistance. My employer does not offer any health care coverage. My wife needs blood pressure medicine that she cannot get. I am awake nights worrying about her.
Collin County, where the Baylor hospital is located that you refer to in your podcast, has the highest per capita income of any county in Texas. At one time they had a public hospital where people without health insurance could get medical care. Since the right wingnuts have taken over the county government, the hospital has been closed. The only place you can get any care is at one of the local catholic churches. They have a sign up sheet that they put out one morning a week, and when all of the slots on that list are full they don't take anymore patients.
If you are poor or working class in Texas, they really make life difficult for you. Texas has the highest percentage of people without health insurance by a wide margin. At one time Texas was not so bad, it has gotten a lot worse since Tom Delay gerrymandered the state. The laws, and policies enacted here in Texas amount to nothing less than class warfare.

I have the highest respect for nurses and the work they do.

I have also experienced for myself the benefits to health of natural foods and lifestyle.

If there could be one benefit to the tragic lack of public health care, it would be increasing awareness of the real source of health as researched by people such as Dr. Weston Price ( http://www.westonaprice.org/traditional_diets/ancient_dietary_wisdom.html ).

I urge you to take a look, you may see something that changes your whole view of healthcare, as it is practised in modern medicine.

Great podcast - a must listen to
Jack Clark documents the right's wars on the poor, civil liberties, the right of workers to organize at work and obtain a decent working wage and work conditions, and against other countries who refuse to accept American domination. Jack provides all the sources so that you can see for yourself how the right is out to enrich itself at the expense of everyone else. Great job, Jack!

awesome show
Clark always backs up his statements against the right wing with fact and data, which gives him all the more credibility. As conglomerate media controlled by politics clouds the mainstream news media, Jack Clark, along with NPR and Democracy Now! have become my primary news source. Awesome podcast!

In-Depth, Meaty, Hardcore Knowledge
This podcast is not just entertainment, humor, chimp-bashing, or gee-whiz recap of the weeks events. Instead, it hits hard and in-depth on the world economic situation and how right-wing policies impact the poor and less advantaged all over the world. He examines Americas support of the World Bank, IMF,multinational corporations, etc., and connects the dots. This is a podcast for grown-ups. He gives good reasons why the right wing is NOT living up to its precious Bible, without putting down the Bible. As a Jesus-loving Christian and moderate Democrat, I respect this podcast for its subject matter. The grown-up manner of the speaker is just icing on the cake. He IS funny, but hes not trying to be, he just has a deadpan delivery but doesnt have to make jokes to make it interesting. The facts make it interesting and devastating.

A Breath of Fresh Air
Jack Clarks Blast the Right podcast is truly a breath of fresh air when it comes to political commentary. Jack is not like some commentators who simply climb on their soap box and state their own opinions as fact. Instead, Jack welcomes competent challenges to his way of thinking, and with logical analysis and sound research, debunks the lies, distortions, and self-deceptions of the right wing. I strongly recommend Blast the Right for people who seek the truth and care more about the long term health and well-being of the whole citizenry than the short term personal gain advocated by modern conservatives. Listen as Jack carefully shows how the high-sounding "God and country" rhetoric of the right wing is really just a smokescreen for policies that ultimately lead only to the increased misery, suffering, and death of the less fortunate for the particular benefit of the wealthy and the well-connected. And, if you find yourself in agreement, return to Podcast Alley to place your vote! Thanks!
