10 - Kick Right-Wingers Off Lifeboat Earth / More O'Reilly Ranting on Poverty / Challenge to Right-Wing Pseudo-Christians / Pain Awareness Act

How is our planet Earth like a lifeboat, and are right-wingers misbehaving badly enough to deserve being tossed overboard?

A proposal for a piece of legislation that would let right-wingers get a taste of their own medicine.

More of Bill O'Reilly's vile ranting about what he claims are the true causes of poverty in our country.

After you confont a right-wing pseudo-Christian with the Equivalent Alternative Solution challenge, what response will you get, and how can you effectively reply?

This was an especially good podcast. Regarding blaming the poor: Do you know where the idea came from that wealth = moral uprightness and worth? I'm baffled by this concept. If poverty was a cause of laziness or "badness" why are golfing clubs full of rich people? Why are there people who work 40-60 hour weeks who still can't feed their kids? Why do they disparage lazy teachers who get the summers off, yet idolize basketball players that have off-seasons? Is a basketball player making millions somehow better than the teacher? Or than a walmart worker?

What does playing golf have to do with someones contribution or hard work.
In response to your question on why 40-60 hr work weeks dont pay for families to eat.First you get paid for your value contribution and this is based on skills and hard work to acheive them.Second i dont believe that most "working familes" cant pay for food, unless they spend the money on other priorites.
Thats what makes this country so great- everyone has the opportuntiy to better themselves and work hard- if they are not capable there have never been more ways to get help.
The democratic party was in power and had 40+ yrs to help fight poverty ,better education and reduce crime.More has been done in the last 6yrs with them out of power in these areas.
It appears to me that the basic philosphy of the left is "whats good for america" is bad for them.

This will probably not get looked at because this podcast was so old, but to respond to the poster above. How can you claim more has been done in the area of poverty/helping the poor over the last 6 years, when both the number of people in poverty as an absolute number as well as a percentage of the population in the United States has increased since Bush took office? Under Clinton poverty had a net decrease, so I fail to see where your facts are coming from?

I would agree with you that everyone has an opportunity to work hard and better themselves, but I would qualify that to say it greatly depends on the situation. If people are not in an environment where it is condusive to learning (innder city, poor, underfunded, understaffed public schools) or even staying in school (having to dropout to help support family etc.) then it will be an extremely difficult and often un realistic task to actually truly make a better life for yourself or list yourself out of poverty.

Great podcast - a must listen to
Jack Clark documents the right's wars on the poor, civil liberties, the right of workers to organize at work and obtain a decent working wage and work conditions, and against other countries who refuse to accept American domination. Jack provides all the sources so that you can see for yourself how the right is out to enrich itself at the expense of everyone else. Great job, Jack!

awesome show
Clark always backs up his statements against the right wing with fact and data, which gives him all the more credibility. As conglomerate media controlled by politics clouds the mainstream news media, Jack Clark, along with NPR and Democracy Now! have become my primary news source. Awesome podcast!

In-Depth, Meaty, Hardcore Knowledge
This podcast is not just entertainment, humor, chimp-bashing, or gee-whiz recap of the weeks events. Instead, it hits hard and in-depth on the world economic situation and how right-wing policies impact the poor and less advantaged all over the world. He examines Americas support of the World Bank, IMF,multinational corporations, etc., and connects the dots. This is a podcast for grown-ups. He gives good reasons why the right wing is NOT living up to its precious Bible, without putting down the Bible. As a Jesus-loving Christian and moderate Democrat, I respect this podcast for its subject matter. The grown-up manner of the speaker is just icing on the cake. He IS funny, but hes not trying to be, he just has a deadpan delivery but doesnt have to make jokes to make it interesting. The facts make it interesting and devastating.

A Breath of Fresh Air
Jack Clarks Blast the Right podcast is truly a breath of fresh air when it comes to political commentary. Jack is not like some commentators who simply climb on their soap box and state their own opinions as fact. Instead, Jack welcomes competent challenges to his way of thinking, and with logical analysis and sound research, debunks the lies, distortions, and self-deceptions of the right wing. I strongly recommend Blast the Right for people who seek the truth and care more about the long term health and well-being of the whole citizenry than the short term personal gain advocated by modern conservatives. Listen as Jack carefully shows how the high-sounding "God and country" rhetoric of the right wing is really just a smokescreen for policies that ultimately lead only to the increased misery, suffering, and death of the less fortunate for the particular benefit of the wealthy and the well-connected. And, if you find yourself in agreement, return to Podcast Alley to place your vote! Thanks!
